Be prepared to be responsible for your own assignments, classwork, note taking, study schedule, deadlines, etc… With Distance Learning you are a college student with a college GPA that will transfer to future colleges you may attend. Failures or Drops WILL affect your future Financial Aid & Scholarships.
If you do not have a personal e-mail account, in addition to your NCCISD account, you need to set one up in g-mail, yahoo, etc…, know the login, know the password, & be ready to use it.
Sign & have a parent sign, & return to Mrs. Hunger these forms :
Contact Information Form containing student & parents e-mail, home address, phone numbers, etc… You can turn in the forms without the SWTXC information. We can add that later when your Acceptance Letter comes in.
SWTJC Dual Credit Admission Form with line items initialed.
Choose "Dual Credit" under "Application Type". Do not choose "High School Graduate".
Please make sure to enter the correct active Major: "Associate of Arts General Studies / AA.GENST".
Make sure you enter your correct mailing address (PO Box or Street address where you get your actual physical paper mail).
Make sure to enter your Social Security Number. (Check with your parent or the JHHS office if you don't know it.)
Make sure you put down your correct Graduation Month. (example: May 2029)
You are applying for Semester: "Fall 2025".
Write down your Apply Texas login, password & confirmation number then e-mail or text them to Mrs. Hunger.
In 1 or 2 weeks you will receive an Official letter of Acceptance from the Admissions Office in the mail. Let Mrs. Hunger know when you receive the letter & let her know your SWTXC Student ID number & SWTXC email. You will need your SWTXC student ID number from this acceptance letter to proceed. If Mrs. Hunger obtains your ID number before you receive the Official letter of Acceptance she will let you know.
Take the TSIA2 Pre-Assessment. This test should take 45 minutes or so.
You will receive an email upon the completion of the Pre-Assessment. Check your email to make sure this is received. Forward this e-mail to Mrs. Hunger.
To begin Dual Credit you need to go online to Register & choose a date, time, and location to take the TSIA2 test: SWTXC Testing Center webpage is: https://www.swtxc.edu/academics/testing-center/index.html
You may have to check back often to find an open date & time that work for you.
Take the TSIA2 test at the SWTXC Testing Center in Uvalde or chose to take the test remotely.
You will also choose the subjects to be tested ( ELAR &/or Math ).
For most of the Dual Credit classes Reading/Writing (ELAR) with Essay section of the TSIA2 test is the section you need to pass. If you are a junior & planning on taking a Math class your senior year, you will need to also take the Math section of the TSIA2. Before attending any Texas College or University you will need to pass both ELAR & MATH sections.
You will pay $32.00 online when registering for the TSIA2. This is nonrefundable so check your school schedule & your family’s schedule in advance. Let Mrs. Hunger know when you are scheduling and we can work together to refund you with grant monies.
Let Mrs. Hunger know the date you have scheduled your TSIA2.
Take the TSIA2 Test:
Follow all rules regarding testing.
Bring the printed TSIA2 Pre-Test email as well as a photo ID to the Testing Center
You will need a photo ID.
If you did not get a Photo ID from Mrs. Cox in the NC JH/HS Library, let Mrs. Hunger know and she can get one for you.
Text a photo of your results or bring a copy of your test results to Mrs. Hunger.
The passing scores are listed on your results paperwork.
If you do not pass the TSIA2 you may retest as many times as you need to. This is the reason we start this process early in the spring.
